Orthodontic Assessment

Our orthodontic assessment is a thorough evaluation designed to provide a complete picture of your dental health, bite alignment, and facial aesthetics. This comprehensive approach ensures that Dr Caryl can develop a personalised treatment plan that addresses your unique needs and goals.

Key Components of the Orthodontic Assessment:

  • Extra-Oral and Intra-Oral Examination
Dr Caryl conducts both extra-oral and intra-oral examinations to assess facial proportions, jaw alignment, and dental occlusion. This comprehensive evaluation allows her to identify any underlying issues and determine the most effective treatment approach.

  • Digital 3D Intra-Oral Scan
Our advanced intra-oral scanning technology enables us to create precise digital impressions of your teeth and bite. This non-invasive procedure eliminates the need for traditional messy impressions, providing a comfortable experience while ensuring unparalleled accuracy in treatment planning.

  • Photographs
High-quality photographs of your smile from various angles allow us to assess facial aesthetics, dental symmetry, and the overall harmony of your smile. These images serve as a valuable reference point throughout your orthodontic journey, enabling us to track progress and optimise treatment outcomes.

  • Full Mouth X-ray (Panoramic X-ray)
A full mouth X-ray provides a comprehensive view of your teeth, jaws, and surrounding structures. This diagnostic tool allows us to evaluate the position of your teeth, identify any underlying issues such as impacted teeth or bone abnormalities, and develop a customised treatment approach tailored to your unique needs.

What kind of brace can I have?

We can offer discreet brace options for patients of all ages, including fixed braces and Invisalign. Each option has different advantages, and many factors need to be considered before deciding which type of brace is best for you.

Fixed Braces

Fixed braces are a powerful solution for correcting complex orthodontic issues such as severe misalignment, overcrowding, and various bite problems. They are permanently bonded to the teeth, applying continuous pressure for predictable results and minimal patient effort. Unlike removable aligners, fixed braces don’t rely on patient compliance, making them a convenient choice for anyone, especially those who may forget to wear removable devices. Suitable for all ages, fixed braces provide precise control over tooth movement and require only routine check-ups to monitor and adjust treatment progress.

Invisalign Aligners

Invisalign treatment uses a series of custom-made, clear aligners to discreetly straighten your teeth. The Invisalign aligners are designed to fit comfortably over your teeth and are worn for most of the day (22 hours daily), removed only for eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing your teeth.

The duration of the treatment varies depending on the individual’s case and can vary from 4-6months for simple alignment to around 12 to 18 months for more complex bite issues. It is effective for a wide range of alignment issues, including overcrowding gaps, crooked teeth, and various bite problems.

The price of teeth straightening starts from £2250 and is dependent on your individual case. Finance options are available.

Simple straightening can sometimes be carried out as quickly as 6 months, particularly if it’s relatively minor tooth movement, or just alignment of the front teeth. However, a relatively short treatment like this usually produces limited changes. More complex treatment often takes between 1-2 years to get the teeth to bite in a better way, in harmony with the jaws and lips.

Once your brace is fitted, you will need to attend frequent and regular appointments (every 6-8 weeks) at Castle Court Dental Care so that we can monitor progress and adjust your brace.

At your initial consultation appointment, Dr Caryl Wilson-Nagrani will assess your teeth and jaws and take any necessary x-rays and photographs. She will discuss the different teeth-straightening options available with you and formulate your bespoke teeth-straightening treatment plan. You will receive a written report detailing the treatment plan and costs. If you are happy with the proposed plan, an appointment will be arranged to take impressions of your teeth and to place the braces.
